AI & Intelligent Automation

Production AI systems - agents, retrieval, and automated workflows - built with the evaluation and monitoring that keep them trustworthy after launch.

The problem

A demo that impresses is not a system you can depend on

Most organizations have now seen an AI prototype work. The hard part arrives afterward: the model answers confidently from the wrong document, costs climb without anyone noticing, and nobody can say whether last week's prompt change made quality better or worse.

The gap is rarely the model. It is the absence of everything around it - retrieval that returns the right context, guardrails for actions with real consequences, a test set that catches regressions, and a human review path for the cases that genuinely need judgment.

Our approach

We build the system around the model, not just the prompt

We start by defining what a correct answer looks like for your use case, and turn that into a written evaluation set before any interface gets designed. That set becomes the thing we optimize against, so improvements are measured rather than claimed.

From there we build the retrieval layer, tool boundaries, and orchestration your workflow actually needs - keeping expensive model calls where they add value and ordinary code everywhere else. Every action that changes data, sends a message, or spends money passes through an explicit approval boundary you control.

Monitoring ships with the first release: request traces, token spend, latency, and quality sampling, so you can see how the system behaves in production rather than inferring it from complaints.

Capabilities

What this service covers

Individual capabilities are scoped per engagement - this is the range we work across, not a list every project includes.
  • Custom AI application development
  • Generative AI solutions
  • AI agents and agentic workflows
  • LLM application integration
  • Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
  • Document intelligence and knowledge assistants
  • AI-powered business process automation
  • Workflow orchestration
  • AI chatbots and customer support assistants
  • Predictive analytics and machine learning
  • AI system evaluation, monitoring, and optimization
  • Human-in-the-loop review workflows

Deliverables

What you actually receive

Illustrative artifacts from a typical engagement. The exact set is agreed during discovery and written into the statement of work.
  1. 01

    Evaluation set and quality baseline

A written definition of correct behavior, with graded examples, so every later change can be measured instead of guessed at.

  2. 02

    Retrieval and knowledge layer

Ingestion, chunking, embedding, and ranking tuned to your content - plus a documented answer about what the system should do when it does not know.

  3. 03

    Agent and tool boundaries

Explicit permissions for every action the system can take, with approval gates on anything that writes data, spends money, or contacts a customer.

  4. 04

    Observability dashboard

Traces, cost per request, latency distribution, and sampled quality scores, so regressions surface before customers report them.

  5. 05

    Operating handbook

How to add knowledge sources, adjust prompts, interpret the evaluation report, and roll back a bad change.

Engagement

How a project in this area runs

Tailored to this service rather than a generic four-box process diagram.
  1. 01

    Scope and feasibility

We pick one workflow with a measurable outcome, confirm the data needed actually exists, and agree what success means in numbers.

  2. 02

    Evaluation first

We build the graded test set before the product. It takes days, and it is what separates a system you can improve from one you can only hope about.

  3. 03

    Build and harden

Retrieval, orchestration, guardrails, and interface - shipped behind a flag to a small group of real users.

  4. 04

    Measure and widen

We compare against the baseline, fix what the data exposes, then expand scope. Monitoring and cost controls go live with the first release.

Questions

What clients ask about AI & Intelligent Automation

Do we need our own model?

Almost never. Hosted models handle the large majority of business use cases, and the engineering effort is far better spent on retrieval quality, evaluation, and workflow design. We will tell you plainly if fine-tuning or a self-hosted open-weight model is genuinely the right call for your constraints.

How do you stop the system inventing answers?

Three ways, used together: retrieval that grounds answers in your own sources with citations, explicit instructions and checks for declining to answer when confidence is low, and an evaluation set that scores groundedness so the rate is measured rather than assumed. No approach reduces it to zero, which is why high-stakes actions stay behind human review.

What does an AI system cost to run?

It depends on request volume, context size, and which model tier the task needs - and it is easy to get wrong by an order of magnitude. We model expected spend during scoping, instrument actual cost per request from day one, and route cheaper tasks to smaller models so the bill tracks value.

Can you work with our data without it training a public model?

Yes. Enterprise API tiers from the major providers contractually exclude your inputs from training by default, and we can architect for a self-hosted model where policy requires it. We confirm the specific data-handling terms in writing during scoping rather than relying on general assurances.
