UI/UX & Product Design

Research, interface design, and design systems - the work that decides whether people can actually complete the task your software exists to support.

The problem

Most usability problems are structural, not cosmetic

When software is hard to use, the instinct is to restyle it. But the common failures sit deeper: a navigation model that reflects the org chart rather than the user's task, a form that asks for information the user does not have yet, and a dashboard that shows everything measurable instead of the few numbers someone acts on.

Design debt also spreads. Without a shared system, every new screen invents its own spacing, states, and components - so the product looks assembled rather than designed, and each change costs more than the last.

Our approach

Understand the task, then design the smallest thing that serves it

We begin with the people who do the work: interviews, session recordings where they exist, and a walk through the current process including its spreadsheets and workarounds. Those workarounds are usually the specification nobody wrote down.

We design the structure before the surface - task flows, information architecture, and the states a screen can be in, including empty, loading, partial, and failed. Designing the unhappy paths is what prevents engineering from inventing them later.

The output is a design system in code, not a static file: tokens, components, and documented states that engineers implement directly. Accessibility is part of the component definition - focus behavior, contrast, keyboard interaction, and screen-reader semantics specified alongside the visuals.

Capabilities

What this service covers

Individual capabilities are scoped per engagement - this is the range we work across, not a list every project includes.
  • UX research and discovery
  • User journeys and information architecture
  • Wireframes and interactive prototypes
  • Web and mobile interface design
  • SaaS dashboard and data-dense interface design
  • Design systems and component libraries
  • Usability and accessibility improvements
  • Product redesign and conversion optimization

Deliverables

What you actually receive

Illustrative artifacts from a typical engagement. The exact set is agreed during discovery and written into the statement of work.
  1. 01

    Research synthesis

What users are actually trying to do, where the current experience obstructs them, and which problems are worth solving first.

  2. 02

    Information architecture and flows

Navigation structure and task flows covering the primary paths plus the edge cases that usually get missed.

  3. 03

    Interactive prototype

Clickable screens at real fidelity, usable for stakeholder review and usability testing before engineering commits.

  4. 04

    Design system

Tokens, components, and states documented with accessibility behavior - delivered as code, not only as design files.

  5. 05

    Accessibility specification

Focus order, keyboard interaction, contrast pairs, and announcement behavior per component, checked against WCAG 2.2 AA.

Engagement

How a project in this area runs

Tailored to this service rather than a generic four-box process diagram.
  1. 01

    Discovery and audit

Stakeholder interviews, user research, and a heuristic and accessibility review of what exists today.

  2. 02

    Structure

Information architecture, task flows, and low-fidelity wireframes reviewed before any visual design begins.

  3. 03

    Interface and system

Visual design for key screens, then extraction into a reusable token and component system.

  4. 04

    Validate and hand over

Usability testing on the prototype, revisions, and an implementation-ready handover with engineering walkthroughs.

Questions

What clients ask about UI/UX & Product Design

Can you design without also building?

Yes. We frequently hand designs to an in-house or third-party engineering team. When we do, we deliver implementation-ready specifications and stay available for build-time questions, because the gap between a design file and shipped software is where quality usually leaks.

How much research is enough?

Less than most people fear. Five to eight well-chosen conversations usually surface the structural problems; beyond that you get diminishing returns until there is something to test. We scale research to the decision at stake, not to a fixed methodology.

We have a brand already. Will you work within it?

Yes, and we will tell you where it creates problems - a brand palette that cannot reach accessible contrast, or a typeface unreadable at interface sizes. We propose the minimum adjustment that keeps the brand recognizable while making the product usable.

Is accessibility going to constrain the design?

In our experience it improves it. The requirements it imposes - clear focus states, sufficient contrast, meaningful structure, not relying on color alone - are the same things that make an interface legible to everyone. It constrains carelessness, not creativity.
